DJ TEN will be spinning tunes at the newly designed Tranquil Space. They are adding a roof deck, pool and escalator. I've been working with the yoga studio for the last three years providing music for the hip-hop yoga workshops and various events.
It is my distinct pleasure to have my first residency at Club Tranquility. They stocked the place with the latest Pioneer CDJ's and a rivaled sound system. I will be inviting guest DJ's to come through and create a unique vibe for yogis and music lovers alike.
Join me and the whole Tranquil Space family at the grand opening, on June 31st.

Last month I had the opportunity to dj two gigs during gay pride week in DC. One of the parties was for an WEAVE's launch of showmelovedc.org.
This mix contains some songs that tie into their message of healthy relationships, love, positive vibes. Listen or download and hit me with your thoughts.

My homie and dj friend, Cuzzin B is celebrating his birthday this memorial day weekend at Station 9 (1439 U Street, NW Washington, DC). If you know me, you know this dude is one of the reasons I decided to become a deejay. We colaborated on a successful mix a few years back called 'Summer Bliss'. I picked the tunes and he mixed it. He told me that I had a good ear and I was shocked. Then I heard the mix. Still one of my favorites to this day.
If you like to dance, take a trip down memory lane and hear good music, check this event out. Cuzzin B will be joined by DJ Face and True School's Ninth Wonder. RSVP to trueschoolcorporation@gmail.com and get in for free.99.

If you are in the DC area, come down to PULP (1803 14th Street, NW) for the B.L.T.(Bacon Lovers Together) party on Friday, August 28. You ask, what's up with the bacon theme? This all came about when a customer was overheard saying 'I purchase all my bacon accessories here.' PULP store manager Bev Jones laughed and thought what a great idea for a party.
Don't wait until the last minute to drop by as it's scheduled to run from 7-8pm (8:30 at the latest).
So join me and the bacon lovers for some great tunes, snacks and 10% off all bacon related merchandise after 7 pm.

Michael Jackson 1958-2009

One very memorable Christmas, I received my first record player and records. I still can see the silver box with a panel of lights on the front that flashed to the beat. I also can still hear the music from one particular record, Michael Jackson's 'Off The Wall.'
I played the HELL out of that record! My mother had to endure the most with my repeated plays of 'Rock With You', 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' and my personal all-time favorite, 'I Can't Help It.' I danced and sang with all my might and obsessively watched the lights flash.
You couldn't tell me there was anybody better than Michael Jackson when I was a kid. In my opinion he was the best dancer, singer and more. I recall a conversation with my mother and her comment about how well someone on Soul Train could dance. I would reply, 'not as good as Michael Jackson. ' There was no doubt in my mind that Michael was the man.
I was also fortunate to see Mike live for the Off The Wall tour. I remember standing the whole time at the Capital Centre in a sky suite, dancing and singing along with every song. What an experience.
Over the years there were other memorable moments. Such as the whole family sitting up to watch the premier of the landmark 'Thriller' video, watching the Motown 25 special and attempting (and failing) to do the moonwalk the next day. I am STILL jealous of Maddie Johnson from elementary school because she went to RFK Stadium to see the Jackson's Victory tour.
Mike went on to be the biggest entertainer that we could imagine. Going on to influence a generation of singers, dancers and dreamers. The new kids are still chasing after him.
Forever will his music touch my heart and move me to 'shake my body down to the ground.' Thank you Michael for the music and memories.
